Job Summary

Amnesty International (AI) is a Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights movement of more than 7 million supporters, activists and volunteers in more than 150 countries campaigning for human rights worldwide. The organization investigates and exposes abuses, educates and mobilizes the public, and works to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied. We are independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion, and are funded mainly by our membership and public donation.

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, passionate and results-driven individual to join our campaigns unit. The Senior Campaigner, Crisis and Tactical, is responsible for developing and implementing rapid response campaigns that achieve human rights impact. The Senior Campaigner will work along side other campaigners and across policy, communications, and field teams to deliver winnable campaigns with clearly defined objectives.

The Senior Campaigner will be responsible for developing crisis campaigns globally and domestically in the US. For example, they will be responsible for developing campaigns in response to conflict, coups or other events that result in sudden, widespread and serious human rights violations. They will also be responsible for responding to swift political developments that threaten human rights at home.

The Senior Campaigner will also be responsible for collaborating with other campaign staff to develop short-term “tactical” projects that advance Amnesty International’s global priorities campaigns: The global refugee crisis and the global crackdown on human rights defenders. These tactical projects are based on a clearly identifiable opportunity to ‘win,’ sometimes in response to a specific external event or opportunity, and involve a high concentration of resources over a limited period. For example, they are responsible for developing short-term campaign strategies arising from a sports event, a milestone in the presidency, or another peak in public or political interest.
